Our Beliefs
We hold to an evangelical statement of faith, hence, in summary, we believe in:
- The one true God who made and sustains all things and who eternally lives in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
- All people having been made in the image of God but now fallen and in the state of original sin that brings the judgment of God, but capable of being saved by grace alone
- Jesus Christ, the sinless, divine Son of God who took on our human flesh, died an atoning death on the cross for our sins, rose again for our justification, who now sits at the right hand of God and who shall return visibly and gloriously one day to judge the world, bringing eternal life for the redeemed and condemnation for the lost.
- The Holy Spirit as the Lord and giver of life, who brings conviction to the sinner, power to the saint, and endows his Church with spiritual gifts and understanding
- The Church as the body of Christ, both local and universal and the priesthood of all believers
- The two ordinances of believer’s baptism by immersion (for those who have repented of sin and put their faith in Christ) and Holy Communion as a remembrance of Christ's sacrificial offering for sinners
- The divine inspiration and complete trustworthiness of Holy Scripture and its supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
As an evangelical church, our life is centred on the teaching of the Bible, fellowship and prayer, along with a burden to reach others with the good news of Jesus Christ. We also have a vision for world mission and concern for the world’s poor, particularly through the work of BMS World Mission, Home Mission, The Leprosy Mission and the Smile Train. We love to study the bible and pray together at our Wednesday meetings, seeking to apply the unchanging truths of God’s word to our contemporary situation. These meetings are often led by members of the fellowship.
